Critiques
You specifically asked that we don't crit the fanart aspect of this, so let's talk about your background. Adorable and vibrant, this is a type pf background I really wound expect to see in any sort of Gundam piece, not even a chibi. It's a pretty standard type of background, but when you look closer you see a surprising complexity in the pattern. I like that. Beyond that, the various shades of pink and purple are a little surprising, but suitable nonetheless; it sets off the character nicely without any sort of detraction.
I love how you used shading to define the nose; actual lines would have been too harsh for this character, so it was a good choice. The shading on the clothes is also well-handled, and the hair for the most part. I WOULD like to see a little more highlighting along the individual 'clumps' of hair, but the shadows look great. The eyes are also prettily highlighted, and of course I'm a fan of using a darker shade of the eyecolor for the pupil. The foreshortening on the right (our left) leg is good for the most part; I only suggest moving the foot up a little more, to obscure more of the leg, and lengthening the character's left leg a little more. This IS a difficult pose and angle, and you actually did a pretty good job on it (and kudos for having the guts to try it - I've been avoiding it). One last thing - the glasses, and the dilution of color behind them, lood great!
Overall, very nice. It's a cheerful little picture that just makes me smile. ^_^ And, more importantly, it's fanart with a recognizable character, but also recognizable YOURS. I could pick your stuff out of a line-up anytime, and I love and respect that.
